Cannabis Glossary

Key terms you will encounter throughout our guides and in the dispensary.

THCTetrahydrocannabinol

The primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. Responsible for the euphoric high. Potency is measured as a percentage of dry weight.

CBDCannabidiol

A non-psychoactive cannabinoid associated with relaxation and calm. Does not produce a high on its own. Often used in wellness products.

TerpeneAromatic Compound

Organic compounds that give cannabis its aroma and flavor. They also influence effects through the entourage effect. Myrcene, limonene, and pinene are common examples.

IndicaCannabis Indica

A classification traditionally associated with relaxing, body-focused effects. Indica plants tend to be shorter and bushier. Modern science suggests terpene profiles matter more than this label.

SativaCannabis Sativa

A classification traditionally associated with energizing, cerebral effects. Sativa plants tend to be taller with narrow leaves. Like indica, the reality is more nuanced than the label.

HybridCross-Bred Strain

A strain bred from both indica and sativa genetics. Most modern cannabis is hybrid. Effects depend on the specific cannabinoid and terpene profile rather than lineage alone.
