The Basics

What Is Cannabis Flower?

Cannabis flower is the dried, cured bud of the cannabis plant. It is the most traditional form of cannabis and remains the most popular category for a reason: it offers the full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids in their natural form.

Flower can be smoked in a pipe, bong, or rolled into a joint. Each strain offers a unique combination of effects, flavors, and aromas determined by its genetics and growing conditions. Choosing the right flower starts with understanding the three primary strain types.

Our Process

How We Select Our Flower

Not every strain makes the cut. Our selection process is deliberate, hands-on, and built around four pillars.

01

Grower Partnerships

We work directly with licensed New York cultivators we trust. Our relationships are built on transparency, consistent quality, and shared standards. We visit facilities, review processes, and taste test before anything reaches our shelves.

02

Lab Testing

Every batch of flower we carry has been tested by a NYS licensed laboratory for cannabinoid potency, terpene profiles, pesticides, heavy metals, mold, and microbials. We review certificates of analysis before accepting any product.

03

Freshness & Cure

Great cannabis starts with a proper cure and ends with proper storage. We evaluate moisture content, trichome integrity, and aroma. Products that do not meet our freshness standards do not make the shelf, regardless of brand or popularity.

04

Terpene Profile

Terpenes drive the flavor and influence the experience. We prioritize strains with robust, distinct terpene profiles over generic, flavorless flower. If it does not smell right, it does not belong here.

For Beginners

Understanding THC & CBD in Flower

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

THC is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. Higher THC percentages generally indicate stronger psychoactive effects, but potency is not the only factor in your experience. Terpene profiles, your personal tolerance, and consumption method all play significant roles. If you are new to cannabis, start with strains in the 15-20% THC range and work up gradually.

CBD (Cannabidiol)

CBD is non-intoxicating and is associated with calming, anti-inflammatory effects. Some flower strains contain balanced ratios of THC and CBD (such as 1:1), which can produce a milder, more manageable experience. CBD-dominant strains are available for those who want the benefits of cannabis without significant psychoactive effects.

Choosing Your First Strain

Tell our staff what you are looking for: relaxation, energy, creativity, sleep support, or something else. We will recommend strains based on your goals, not the highest THC number. Start with a small amount, wait to feel the effects, and adjust from there. There is no rush.

Not Sure Where to Start?

Our staff is trained to help beginners navigate the flower selection. No judgment, no pressure. Just honest guidance based on what you tell us you are looking for.

What to Look For

Quality Markers in Flower

Trichome Coverage

Quality flower is covered in a visible layer of crystalline trichomes. These contain the cannabinoids and terpenes that define the experience.

Aroma

Good flower has a distinct, pungent smell. Flat or hay-like odors indicate poor cure or stale product. Every strain should smell intentional.

Structure & Trim

Buds should be properly trimmed with minimal excess leaf. Dense structure for indicas, slightly airier for sativas. No seeds or stems.

Moisture

Properly cured flower is slightly sticky but not damp. It should break apart with a gentle squeeze, not crumble to dust or feel wet.
